Racing on TV This Week: Our Picks for August 3 – 9
The first full week of August is stacked with dirt. There's a $75,000 Late Model crown jewel, two more marquee dirt shows, sprint cars at the sport's most famous half-mile, plus MotoGP's return from its summer break and NASCAR on a fast short oval. Here's what we'd clear the schedule for.
Editor's Picks
44th Annual North/South 100
The week's headliner is one of dirt Late Model racing's true crown jewels. The 44th North/South 100 pays $75,000 to win over 100 laps at Florence Speedway, and the story is whether anyone can stop Bobby Pierce, who has won it three years running. Thursday and Friday preliminary nights build to Saturday's finale — all live on FloRacing.
Ironman 55
The World of Outlaws Late Models are at the fast Federated Auto Parts Raceway bullring in Pevely, Missouri for the Ironman 55 — a big-money Saturday feature on a slick, high-speed Missouri oval that always produces a show. Live on DIRTVision.
360 Knoxville Nationals · Finale
Consider it the appetizer for next week's main course. The 360 Knoxville Nationals crown the winged 360 sprint cars at the legendary Knoxville Raceway — the same half-mile that hosts the 410 Knoxville Nationals a week later. A great early look at "The Sprint Car Capital of the World." Live on DIRTVision.
British Grand Prix
MotoGP is back from its summer break at Silverstone, and it returns to the tightest title fight in years — five riders covered by a couple dozen points. The Grand Prix airs Sunday morning US time on FS1, with the Saturday Sprint on FS2.
Iowa Corn 350
NASCAR's Cup Series runs the Iowa Corn 350 at Iowa Speedway, a fast 0.875-mile short oval that's become one of the more entertaining stops on the schedule. Sunday afternoon on USA Network.
Everything else on this week
