About the Brickyard 400
First run in 1994, the Brickyard 400 was the first race other than the Indianapolis 500 held at Indianapolis Motor Speedway since 1916, with Jeff Gordon winning the inaugural event before an estimated crowd of more than 250,000. It quickly became one of NASCAR's most prestigious races. From 2021 to 2023 the Cup Series ran the IMS road course instead (the Verizon 200), before the oval Brickyard 400 returned in 2024.
