About the Knoxville Nationals · Prelim
The Knoxville Nationals, first run in 1961, is sprint car racing's biggest event, drawing roughly 100 teams and 25,000 fans to the half-mile Knoxville Raceway each August. The multi-night program uses qualifying nights in which drivers accumulate points to lock into Saturday's 50-lap championship finale. Steve Kinser won the event a record 12 times.
