About the Fonda 200
The Fonda 200 dates to 1955, when moonshiner-turned-racer Junior Johnson won the inaugural running at Fonda Speedway — a tradition that predates the Daytona 500 and once drew NASCAR stars, with David Pearson winning in 1966 and Richard Petty in 1967 and 1968. Revived in 2019 under the Short Track Super Series banner, the 200-lap Modified marathon anchors a three-day September festival at the 'Track of Champions' and pays $53,000 to win. Stewart Friesen won the 2025 edition from the pole, his fourth Fonda 200 triumph, matching Brett Hearn's four victories (1995, 1997, 1998, 2002).
It is one of the longest-running named events in American dirt racing and the richest race on the STSS calendar.
