Pacific Raceways in Kent, Washington, has hosted the NHRA Northwest Nationals (originally the Seafair Nationals) since the NHRA's return to the Seattle area in 1988, following an earlier run of national events at the track in the late 1970s. At the inaugural 1988 event, Darrell Gwynn set the Top Fuel national record en route to victory, while Don Prudhomme (Funny Car) and Bob Glidden (Pro Stock) also set national records.
