The Gold Cup Race of Champions is one of the oldest titles in West Coast racing, first run in 1951 at Sacramento's Hughes Stadium as a 100-lap hardtop race. West Capital Raceway hosted the event from 1956 to 1979 before it moved to Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico in 1980, where the quarter-mile has staged it ever since. The 71st edition in 2025, hosted by Kubota High Limit Racing, paid a record $100,071 winner's share.
